WordPress – installation and configuration

by Dawid Adach,

Go to http://www.wordpress.org and download the latest version. Go back to our server directory (XAMP_installation_path/htdocs/wordpresss), remove existing index.php file (and all other files if there are any) and unzip all files into the folder.

Now open our website location: http://localhost/wordpress/, you should see installation screen.

Press Let’s go! button, and fill the form on next screen with data which we used to create our database:

Fill the form with data which we submitted before:
Database Name  wp
User Name  wp
Password  mdbtutorial
Database host:  localhost
Table Prefix:   wp_

Then click Submit.

In next step, you have to specify your Wordpress site name, username, and password of the administrator. Fill them and finish the installation process. Once you do that, your website should be available at http://localhost/wordpress and admin panel: http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/

Congratulations!

You have finished our first tutorial and configured your server. Click here to start our next course where you will learn how to create your first WordPress theme.
