Input field label not working properly

We're using the pro version (5.2.3) and copied login from online documentation. The issue I'm facing is that the label and placeholders aren't 'moving' up and staying where they are. User input is being typed out the placeholder.Please help.

I ran into this... make sure you have mdbActive in the field.

example:

<input type="text" id="name" class="form-control" mdbActive>

Anything else? I have this, but is there something special we need in the component.ts too?
