I have noticed that the so-called first generation of input field design has been removed from the material design guidelines. The design now calls for either filled text fields or outlined text fields. AFAIK, you still have the first generation material input fields. 

Will you be adding the newer input field design?

Unfortunately, I can't give any more details or deadlines for the introduction of the new input design.
