Expected behavior
Prior to v5, the ability to click "today" was available, and also to work with date ranges,
Actual behavior
Neither of these seem to be available since change to V5 and given the time passed appears not to be being addressed? The previous version of datepicker was far more versatile, can we see any of these features return, or is there a way to revert back to the previous version within 9.1.0?

There is no way to revert specific features from previous versions, as the component has evolved over time in response to customer demands. I'm sorry to hear that the recent changes don't align with your needs.
For reference, the dateRange option was introduced in version 8.2.0.
