Topic: Web Push questions

decosvaldo pro asked 7 years ago

Hi, I'm using BrandFlow and have some questions about web push:

1. It is possible to re-send a notification or do I need to create a new one every single time?

2. It is possible to schedule notifications to be sent automatically?

3. I'm receiving Internal Server Error when trying to duplicate/copy a notification. That resource can be very helpful. Can you check that, please?

4. The push notification is only sent to users that are online at the moment that the notification is sent by the administrator?

This resource is very helpful and I hope that will be improved, specially with automation.

Thanks

Hi, thank you for the amazing reply. About item 3, I tried again this morning and the error is gone. Don't know why. Looking forward for automation of notifications.   Thanks

Hi decosvaldo, Thanks for using BrandFlow! Let me answer your questions in the list in the same order you've asked: 1. In the care of your users' experience, we do not provide the possibility of re-sending the same notification twice. Simply because one could send an identical notification to his users by accident and it could result in loss of subscriptions. If you know exactly what you are doing and would like to send the same or very similar notification to your users as the one you've already sent, you can duplicate it by clicking the appropriate button. Then, you can click on the duplicated notification and edit or re-send it again. 2. Currently, we do not provide such feature but it is in our todo-list. It will be available soon. 3. I am sorry for your inconveniences. Reach me at s.kaczmarek@mdbootstrap.com so we can discuss it in details. I believe you wouldn't like to share kind of sensitive data publicly. 4. Not exactly. The notification is sent to both online and offline users. The online users can be divided into two groups: those who are active on your site at the moment, and those who are inactive at the moment but have the browser opened. The offline users are those who have switched their device off or the browser is closed. Now, when you send the notification, this is what happens to each group:
  • Active users - those receive the notification immediately. When they click on it, they will be redirected to the desired page
  • Inactive users - same as above, they will see the notification immediately. When clicked, the browser will open a new tab and redirect to your page
  • Offline users - they won't receive the notification until they turn their device on or open the web browser. Then they will see your push notification and when clicked, they will be redirected to your website
So the short answer is: all of your users will receive the notification but it's not guaranteed that they all will see it at the same moment. I hope this answers your questions. Do not hesitate to email me directly. Best regards, Sebastian
