Topic: Lightbox partially working on local server, working less well on hosting server

Calder free asked 4 years ago

Thanks to your solution to my previous question about getting the lightbox working, I can see that it is at least partially working now. On the local server it works partially: the controls are working but not visible. On the host server, it is working the same if I use Safari and less if I use Chrome: the picture expands but not with animation and there are no controls available in the expanded view at all. You can see this in action at the gallery page

I am grateful for your help.

Hi.

It looks like img/lightbox/default-skin.png is missing from your server. Can you check it? As for the lack of animation I can't reproduce this problem. I have these animations. Which chrome version are you using?

Calder free commented 4 years ago

Hi, I do have the png file you mention but cannot see it listed in any of the MDB example code for the Gallery. Where does it need to go?

Regarding Chrome, I am using the latest version for Mac: Version 86.0.4240.183 (Official Build) (x86_64)

No problem with the file, I have put it where it needs to go. Chrome still an issue though.

From what I can see you have successfully solved the problem? I just entered your website and I can see that the icons have appeared.

Calder free commented 4 years ago

It appears to be an issue with Chrome for OSX. The version on my iMac (84.0.4147.135, 64-bit) almost works: the behaviour of the images is correct but I cannot see the control icons. The version on my MacBook Air (86.0.4240.183, x86_64) does not work correctly at all: although the image expands, it does so to fill the viewport and there are no controls present.

I just checked your site on MacBook Air (86.0.4240.183, x86_64). Everything works well. Have you checked in incognito mode? Maybe one of the extensions you use is causing this error? It could also be caused by non-standard chrome settings.

Calder free commented 4 years ago

I checked with incognito window and everything works fine, but not in standard mode; I have disabled all extensions and don’t have any unusual settings in place. I cannot figure out why Chrome is behaving like this.

Maybe it's because of the browser cache? Clean it and see if it helps.

Thanks, you were absolutely right. How something so simple escaped me!

I'm glad that everything is already working for you :)
