Does MDB provide a setting that automatically converts multi selected options to tags with a removal button, so that they can be deselected both individually and all together as shown in this example?

Unfortunately, there is no such option at the moment. I'll add it to our list of ideas. We will discuss with the team the possibility of adding this option.
